And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth.

How important is the Word of God for the church today? Does the church seem to be a falling away from the truth of God's Word supplanting it with a gospel more palatable to the flesh? preacherman

In the gospel of Matthew 7:21-23 The scriptures read; "Not every one that saith unto me Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father, which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesised in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." There are many that have openly rejec...

Man is born, and man will die. "In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return" If you could see what is on the other side of this life would it change what you believe today? God's Word gives us a glimps of two men that lived and that died. What did they find on the other side of this life? Check it out and let me know what you think....... Luke 16:19-31 I...

Religious- of or relating to religious beliefs or observances; the service or worship of God; a commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance; a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs and practices. Webster Dictionary.... I have been a member of joeuser for approximately 6 months. I have noticed, and am somewhat disappointed that there is such a bitter spirit that resides in some of the posted opinions. Is it me or does this seem a little strang...

With another Christmas season, comes a more aggresive anti-Christian spirit. I can understand those who don't believe in God how they would be so adamant upon removing Christ from the Christmas holiday, but it is troubling to me to see the blatant pro-Islamic agenda of the ACLU while they are vehemently suppressing the Christian's freedoms. Click on the following link for an excellent article that shows this truth! Link I would like to pose a series of questions on this thread- 1.)...

In the second letter to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul states that God made him (Christ Jesus), who knew no sin, to be sin that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corinthians 5:21 I believe Christ was without sin, that He might present Himself the spotless lamb of God for the sin of the world; John 1:29, the question is could Jesus have sinned? In Acts 20:28 the Apostle Paul exhorted the leaders in the church at Ephesus to "take heed unto thereselves, and to all the ...

In the 6th chapter of Mark’s gospel, Herod had imprisoned John the Baptist because John had told Herod “it is not lawful for thee to have thy brothers wife”. Eventually John’s life was consecrated to God in his beheading. My concern is that there are many that dabble on the religion page of jU who would have thought John got what he deserved, for telling Herod that taking his brother’s wife was a sin. I must admit, this response does not surprise me, especially those who do not see adulter...

Is capital punishment Non-Christian? We’ve all heard it before……… Eye for eye, tooth for tooth. Turn the other cheek He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone. So where does all of this fit when we are talking about the law/government’s responsibility in protecting a society? “For the rulers is not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good and thou shalt have praise of the same: for he is the minister of G...

Gideon posted an article “Religions of Peace” excerpts from this thread can be read Link My take on the article was that religions, whether they be Catholic, Islam, the LDS or Protestant could do many good works if they applied their abundant resources to feed the hungry and clothe the poor, and minister to their basic health care needs. The point of the article is that such an act of kindness and compassion could quite possibly result in a world that would truly know peace. This act ...

Just last week I was reading a comment that was made by one jU citizens about how blessed he was and in that, was fulfillment in his life. I hope no one misunderstands what I am about to say, but the blessings that we enjoy today could be our curse tomorrow. In the gospel of Luke Chpt. 12 there is a certain rich man that by any standard of today’s living would have to admit, this man was truly blessed. In fact he was so blessed, he didn’t have enough room to put all of his stuff- HIS PR...

In the Book of the Revelation of the Lord Jesus Christ, in that day of tribulation the Spirit of God reveals to John two of God's witnesses. in the 7 verse of the chapter the Word of God tells us that they are killed for their TESTIMONY. In the 10 verse of the chapter it states that they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another, because they TORMENTED them that dwelt on the earth. What does everybody think? What was their ...

In the Second Epistle of John verse 7-11 the believer is warned against false teachers (VS7) "for many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist." (VS9) "Whosoever transgresseth and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God." Against such desception and untruth, the Spirit of God advises the child of God d not even entertain their doctrine of untruth . (VS10-11) "If there com...

If you could see my back yard it is adorned with beautiful flowers and plants that are in full bloom now. My wife (who has the green thumb) and I enjoy sitting outside late in the afternoon and watching the birds feed in the numerous feeders that are scattered throughout the back yard. As we watched this afternoon, could not help but think as the birds filled their bellies with the seed about God's faithfulness. Matt.10:29-31 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of th...
