And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father) full of grace and truth.
Sadest Commentary One Might Ever Know
Published on January 4, 2005 By preacherman In Religion
In the gospel of Matthew 7:21-23 The scriptures read; "Not every one that saith unto me Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father, which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesised in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

There are many that have openly rejected the Truth of God's Word and His salvation in Christ. Their fate is certain and will be just (reference judge me you angelic bastard), but what about those that think they have a relationship with Christ and have served Him faithfully only to find out He never knew them?

Truely the sadest commentary one might know.

God created all men and women in his image, and watches over us all. He cannot not know us, for he is omniscient. Therefore He cannot be so ignorant as you would paint Him to be. Perhaps your god is one of intolerance and harsh punishment for those who fail to do exactly as it wishes, but if so I fear you are not worshipping the Creator but Satan himself, and we all know the horrors that that path leads to.

One could consider your perspective, but what foundation does it rest upon?

Upon God-given reason and logic, without which we are little more than monkeys with particularly shiny tools. We are taught from birth that Satan is the great deceiver, the seducer of the innocent and the destroyer of worlds. Yet God spared him when he defeated him in the war in heaven. So we know that God is merciful, even to his greatest threats, and therefore would not be merciless to his most pathetic creations.

Similarly we know through Satan's attempts to tempt Jesus that he is adept at wearing the faces of others and twisting them to his own gain. What better way to manipulate the innocent into the ways of Satan than to portray God as intolerant and harsh? After all, an intolerant god would expect his minions to be intolerant to others, thereby making them hard of heart and forcing them by default to disobey the teachings of God's son, Jesus. Out of such heresies were the Crusades and the Inquisition born. Surely Satan rejoiced at his wickedness in corrupting the home of the rock upon which all Christianity was founded?

It's up to you what you worship, but it is for reasons like this that I do not worship an intolerant and harsh God, for I know in my heart that such is the path to evil.

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

for I know in my heart

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

The Scriptures are full of descriptions of Jesus’ compassion and love. It is a love that is all-inclusive. He reaches out to the so-called “outcasts” and those that others look upon as “unclean.” It is this kind of unconditional love he expects from all of us who claim Him as our Lord and Savior.

Jesus tells us by way of John 5:20 “We also know that the Son of God has come and has given us discernment to know the one who is true.”

If we truly embrace Jesus as Lord and Savior there is not a chance that we will be suddenly at the judgment seat of God and find that we have been fooled into thinking we have been saved by His gracious kindness, compassion and love. It is His strength that will have pulled us through every trial and tribulation and once we have joined His band, He will never leave us for forsake us. Be confident of His victory over sin.

Greetings once again oleteach;

I agree with everything you have said, but one can't deny that our Lord spoke of those who would think that they had a place with Him only to find out He never knew them.
Where do you think inlies this danger today?

Our Lord did have compassion and love for all, but was not very tolerant to those who openly rejected His Word. Do you thnk it is possible to tell one the Truth and it be construed as un-loving?

Surely we need to tell the truth...Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Those who do reject him will not be saved.
I only wished to emphasize the fact that once we accept Him,,, there is no danger that we will wind up suddenly being shut out of His kingdom. All need to accept Him... Only Jesus knows who does or does not. How they follow Him will depend our how nourished they are on His Word, how quickly or slowly they mature in their understanding of His Way. By their fruits they shall be known.

My usual frame of mind is to emphasize the positive rather than the negative.

Amen! I agree with all you have said.

I would think the greatest danger of the fulfilling prophecy of Matt. 7: 21-23 is for those who have been duped in believing that church membership and good works will save you. Except a man been born again, he can not see the Kingdom of God.

Cactoblasta....you putz,
Preacherman wasnt calling God ignorant. He was quoting the Bible. If you dont confess Christ as your savior and redeemer of your sins and follow his teachings, he will say to you, in laymens words, "Go away, I never knew you." Obviously God knows you. He is God. But if you ignore him and his teachings over your own selfish ways, he will reject you like you rejected him. Would you let a stranger into your house where you and your family live? No.

There is a difference between intollerance, and not letting someone into eternal life after they had their entire life to chose Him and follow His ways, and constantly time after time, avoided him and ignored him....never accepting him.

Yep. That's got to be the 4 saddest words in the Bible Bro;I never knew you. Most people read their Bibles for years & never get the full impact of passages like this. This is a vast crowd of people who truly believed they were saved & on the way to heaven, only to find out they were deceived by some false teacher & on their way to hell. why? because they never really had a relationship with Jesus Christ & God. Why? They were never really born again @ all.

Just picked up this post from getrealwithGod. You are correct Wayne, but the fact that one ends up in Hell is not the fault of God. For He has given everyone the free choice to believe what His Word says, or not!

Thanks for the post getrealwithGod. We would all do well to GET REAL WITH GOD.

God Bless
